Business Continuity

What is Business Continuity Management? BCM is a holistic management process that identifies potential threats to an organization and the impacts to business operations that those threats, if realized, might cause, and which provides a framework for building organizational resilience with the capability for an effective response that safeguards the interests of its key stakeholders, reputation, brand and value-creating activities.

Taken from the British Standard - BS25999-1:2006

Blue Water provides the following BCM (Business Continuity Management) services:

BCM AwarenessA business continuity strategy has to be established and agreed upon through the organization at all levels. The BCM policy should be owned at a high level such as the board or an elected official in a senior management position.
Blue Water provides business continuity strategy awareness training for all levels of the organization. These awareness sessions provide an insight into the Business Continuity Management process.

We deliver these sessions in person or via a video conferencing session which usually take no longer that one hour.

This insight into BCM is ideal for those organizations that are considering implementing a business continuity strategy and would like to hear from one of Blue Waters business continuity experts.
Business Impact Act (BIA) A Business Continuity Plan can't be fully developed and implemented without first conducting the all important Business Impact Analysis (BIA). Blue Water helps its customers identify their most critical systems and processes and the effect any downtime would have. The greater the potential impact, the greater the investment in resources and time a company should spend to recover them swiftly.

Blue Water's BIA help's companies set a restoration sequence to determine which parts of the business should be restored first which is a critical step in the BCM process.
Business Continuity Plan (BCP)The results from the BIA will lead a business down a certain path. The BCP (Business Continuity Plan) and specifically the procedures should be developed based on the results from BIA. These procedures should then be presented to senior management for their approval prior to implementation. The BCP is then implemented throughout the enterprise, tested, audited, managed and maintained.

Blue Water assists in the development, implementation, testing and auditing of the BCP.
EvaluationAn exercise program should be consistent with the scope of the BCP. Tests should be carried out on a regular basis especially when major changes are implemented or when new key hires with BCM responsibilities are introduced to the business continuity program.

Blue Water through its evaluation services can test these plans remotely via GlobalTop. This  reduces operational interruptions and cost. We also provide traditional in-house table top exercises.

BCM TrainingHaving a comprehensive business continuity plan is all well and good if everyone understands their role and how they fit in. We understand that even smaller organizations sometimes have a challenge when it comes to delivering training to a geographically challenged workforce, third party vendors and other key stakeholders.

Blue Waters BCM training service allows organizations to deliver their training via our eLearning system to ensure everyone with a business continuity responsibility understands their responsibility and how they integrate into the larger picture. We may have duel roles to play or have to fill in if someone is not available so its important we understand others roles and responsibilities. Being able to validate that each member of staff, student, vendor, or any other person with a role understands their responsibilities is important and a requirement that is often overlooked.
